Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspecis of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. Lyrical dance is
"strongly associated with clearly displayed emotional moods, fast-moving choreographic strategies, emphasis on virtuosic display, illustration of song lyrics, and, in group form, exact unison." The style is usually danced at a faster pace than ballet but not as fast as jazz. Dancers need to be aged 8 and above, as well as enrolled in classical ballet classes to help with technique.

Hip-Hop
Miss Alicia K
Hip hop is more than a genre: it's a cultural movement sweeping up music, poetry, dance, art, fashion, and political philosophy... It's less like singing (which by definition carries a melody] and more like reciting poetry over a backbeat. Hip Hop is not as technical as other genres, allowing for more freedom of interpretation. A lot of fun for young dancers!
Offered to dancers aged 5 and up.

Jazz Hip-Hop
Miss Nat

up.
Dancers are taught body mechanics and isolations, introducing different movements of the body to combine steps and challenge themselves, while having a lot of fun with funky music.
These classes are not as technical as a ballet class, so there is no pressure to be right - improvisation is always welcome!

Heels

Senior Heels for teens and young adults was developed after realising my "babies" had grown into young women and I could see they wanted to be empowered. Once a dancer has strengthened their core and improved their balance, it's time to try dancing in heels. In the beginning it will likely feel awkward [even if you have been dancing for years), and it might even feel tough. In fact, dancing in heels requires your body to work harder. Heels is a style of dance that combines elements of hip hop, contemporary, and jazz dance which is danced in high heels. Think of the dances done in music videos with artists like Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, or Jennifer Lopez. In this class you will learn to dance to popular music, have fun, feel strong and empowered. This class promotes body positivity which is essential for our youths mental health.
